Big Picture Learning invites educators, school teams and district leaders to a transformative weeklong professional learning exchange in Barbados - in partnership with Beyond the Box Education. This immersive experiences focuses on global education transformation, student-centered assessment, and whole-child development - offering a unique opportunity for school systems to align their professional development with future-ready learning goals.

Participants will engage deeply with the Beyond the Box team, who run an innovative BPL school operating within Barbados' traditional system. Through firsthand observation of primary and secondary classrooms, attendees will explore high-impact instructional practices steeped in BPL distinguishers: Interest-drive, project-based learning, Advisory, Internships, and Authentic Assessment (using the IBPLC model).

This visit coincides with a nationwide effort in Barbados to modernize and humanize education, supported at the highest levels of government. Leaders will examine how these systemic reforms are being implemented locally and consider their relevance to U.S. based initiatives. A highlight of this trips includes hand-on IBPLC training - valued at $20,000 per person - which is fully included in the program cost.
